Ukiyo-e Kunisada Custom Sneakers

These custom kicks are designed using real artwork from The British Museum.

With the outside of the sneaker looking forward, and the inside looking back, the main figure of these sneakers is a reflection of the inner monologue that we often feel, with our inner subconscious constantly looking back over our lives. Take the strength of this Character in Kabuki theatre as an ever present guardian against the ghosts of your past.

Tokoyuni III also known as Kunisada was one of the most prolific ukiyo-e artists of the 19th Century with his first known artwork dating from 1807. A star of the Utagawa School, his work featured mainly Kabuki actors, Bijin ( beautiful women) and shunga(erotic prints).
